Konsekvensanalys för Handelshögskolan (Impact analysis for the Stockholm School of Economics ), 2018, by Bella Rune is a site-specific comission and part of Rune's project Konsekvensanalys (impact analysis). Konsekvensanalys is a project where the artist explores the interface between physical reality and a virtual world with augmented reality (AR).
Through an app called "konsekvensanalys", developed by the artist, visitors can engage with the AR artwork. Pointing the camera on one's phone toward the old paintings of Eli Heckscher and Bertil Ohlin (by Fritjof Schuldt), Rune's virtual artwork will emerge, giving the men in the paintings a new context.
The project Konsekvensanalys has been displayed in exhibitions at Stadsskogen in Uppsala, Konstmuseet i Norr in Kiruna, at Tensta Konsthall in Stockholm, and at Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow, Russia. We two site-specific, permanent, installations of Konsekvensanalys at SSE: one in the Heckscher-Ohlin Room and one in the Boardroom (Konsekvensanalys for the Board Room at the Stockholm School of Economics, 2016). The installations are part of the SSE permanent art collection.
Konsekvensanalys för Handelshögskolan (in the Heckshcer-Ohlin Room) is a reference to William Tell, a legendary folk hero of Schwitzerland. He was a mountain climber and marksman with a crossbow who opposed the powers. As a punishment he had to fire an arrow into an apple balancing on his son's head. The story is also famously depicted in the painting L'Énigme de Guillaume Tell by surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. In Bella Rune's interpretation, we find Eli Heckscher shooting an arrow and Bertil Ohlin balancing an apple atop his head.
