Frequently asked questions

Application process:

How do I apply?

International students, Incoming BSc & MSc exchange students & PhD students

International and exchange students who have been admitted or conditionally admitted to SSE will receive an email with instructions on how to apply for housing after receiving their admission offer. The exact date and time for applications will be communicated to the relevant students via email in advance. The emails will be sent from ssehousing@hhs.se.

International faculty & staff, guest researchers and visitors affiliated with SSE

The applications for international faculty and staff, guest researchers, and visitors are handled through SSE's HR department. For assistance with housing questions and applications, please send an email to emma.hellsten@hhs.se.

Who can apply?

All international students, faculty and staff at SSE as well as guest researchers and visitors affiliated with SSE are eligible to apply for accommodation.

I have applied for accommodation. When will I receive an offer?

After the application period for SSE housing ends, we will begin reviewing all applications. Offers will start being sent a few days after the application has closed. Due to the high volume of emails, we will not be able to answer questions regarding application status.

If you receive an offer, you will be notified by email once the application process is complete. The email will include details about the type of accommodation, location, rent payment due date, and other relevant information.

How do I accept or decline an offer?

You will receive your offer via email, and you will have 48 hours to accept or decline it by replying to the email.

After you accept the offer, we will send you a digital lease agreement through our partner, Scrive. You will have 48 hours to sign it. Please ensure you sign within this timeframe, or the housing offer will be passed on to another student.

Contract:

Can I cancel the lease agreement?

To terminate your rental agreement, you must contact SSE Housing via email.

You are required to provide a three-month notice period. As stated in the Stockholm School of Economics’ housing agreement, you must give notice at least three (3) months in advance to terminate your tenancy agreement. If you wish to end the tenancy agreement before its agreed expiration date, you may do so, but you will be responsible for paying rent for the full three-month notice period, during which the tenancy agreement will remain in force.

If you have pre-paid rent covering the termination period, you will not be reimbursed. However, if your pre-payment extends beyond the termination period, you are entitled to a refund for the excess amount.

Please note that you must officially give notice to initiate the termination period.

Can I extend the lease agreement?

As we have high demand for all our accommodations, this is not something we can guarantee. However, you are always welcome to send an email to ssehousing@hhs.se and ask.
